Grants are available to carry out communication actions related to the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
Priority will be given to projects that:
(1) Explain and debate the Common Agricultural Policy with the general public, in particular the young urban population;
(2) promote the role and usefulness of a strong, sustainable and balanced Common Agricultural Policy together with a socio-economic dynamism in rural areas;
(3) discuss the need to maintain production capacity in order to ensure food security;
(4) focus on the need for farmers to respond to new challenges, relating mainly to climate change, the preservation of the countryside and biodiversity;
(5) discuss rural areas on direct aid, markets and rural development policy with agricultural stakeholders, the rest of the food supply chain and the population;
(6) create debate about the Common Agricultural Policy concerning the quality of agricultural products.
Those eligible are farmers' and rural development organisations, consumer associations, environmental protection associations, public authorities, the media, universities, and think tanks.
The budget is €3.25 million. Individual grants will be between €20,000 and €300,000. Funding will be a maximum 50% of project costs.
The deadline for applications is 5 November 2010.
