The general objectives of the programme and of this call are to promote mutual understanding between the peoples of the EU and Canada, including broader knowledge of languages, cultures and institutions. Grants are available to higher education institutions and vocational education and training institutions. Each project must have a lead institution in the EU and one in Canada and must comprise at least four institutions. This call will fund two types of actions: Transatlantic Exchange Partnerships (TEP) and Transatlantic Degree Partnerships (TDP) programmes.
For TEP projects, support is provided for joint study and training programmes and to implement student and faculty mobility, including funding for administration, grants for students and members of the academic and administrative staff. The maximum duration of TEP projects is 36 months.
For TDP projects, support is provided to develop and implement dual/double or joint degree programs, includes funding for the development work and administration, grants for students and members of the academic and administrative staff. The maximum duration of TDP projects is 48 months.
Activities under both TEP and TDP are planned to start between 1 September 2010 and 31 December 2010. A budget of some €1.9 million is available, from which three TDP and five TEP projects will be co-funded in 2010. The maximum amount of EU funding will be €428,000 for a four-year TDP project and €138,000 for a three-year TEP project. The deadline for applications is 24 March 2010. Further details are available from the EACEA website.
