A draft ’Enforcement Directive’ seeks to increase the protection of workers temporarily posted abroad by improving monitoring of, and compliance with, Directive 96/71/EC on the posting of workers. By strengthening existing legislation the Commission aims to address of workers over issues such as pay and holidays. An associated proposal for a Regulation (the ’Monti II Regulation’) addresses concerns that economic freedoms in the Single Market prevail over the right to strike.
