Eurostat figures released to mark International Women’s Day show that the EU population aged 65 and over contains 40% more women than men. The Eurostat News Release also looks at: the share of women at risk of poverty or social exclusion; how education level affects employment rates for women and men; and whether women and men buy different goods and services online.

Previously, to mark Equal Pay Day, the Commission released figures showing that women across the EU continue to earn an average of 16.4% less than men.

Another new Commission report shows limited progress towards increasing the number of women on company boards, with just 13.7% top company board members being women.
